Am looking at a BOSS RV-3 or RV-5, or potentially even at the higher end something like a Cathedral, BSR, Flint or Wet. Im a massive fan of late 80s early 90s shoegaze and the reverb sound rocked by the bands of that era - Verve, Slowdive etc. Used theyre about a quarter of the price of the top-end pedals. Is anyone still using a Quadraverb for big, shoegazy reverb Given that its a 20 year old piece of kit, does is still stack up against the modern big reverb pedals Not interested in shimmer, just long plate hall verbs with and without dirt. Thoughts. I have a quadraverb and quadraverb GT (the GT part isnt much use, but the verb is awesome). I also have a microverb and a midiverb stashed away somewhere. Boffo. I assume you mean the older ones, not the one with the larger menu windows The only problem is they are a bit of a tone suck when bypassed, so mine is in a loop. If your amprig has a loop where you can run it wet only that is great too. The reverbs can get very smokey and thick, theyre very guitar-tone friendly where we tend to use reverb for note trails, not to simulate live room space. The newest crop of spring reverbs are great, and have spring artifacts, etc. For me if I want spring I get it from an amp, I use quadraverb reverb for smokey trails. You will like it. You can also make patches where the EQ andor modulation feeds the reverb but not the dry signal, for customized reverb tones. I urge you to check out, Lifes an ocean, a live TV performance. So far, the only pedal that has equaled it and totally surpassed it is my Eventide SPACE pedal. You can add a Yamaha FX5000 for the reverse reverb sound and get both used for less than the cost of the Hall of Fame. ![]() The way you can organize the blocks of reverb in the original as opposed to the other Eventides, is key to its sound. Nick McCabe, is one of my favorite guitarists and what he could coax out of those units was astounding. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, used it all over their debut, including being the primary reverb for vocals on that album and Take Them On Your Own.
